Medicine is far more art than science. This story raises an important medical question. In it an elderly rural doctor is forced to surrender her medical license because she does not know how to use a computer.
I feel this story is an extreme example which does not do the critical question justice. I suspect far too many people on an everyday basis confuse technology and big pharma with real healthcare, which is understandable given how big business has framed our for-profit worldview of medicine. Personally, I’d be far more healthy and happy with a primary care doc who knows me, my body, and my mind rather than a doc who knows all the latest medical apps and machines.
